Welcome to Spoon River Valley. Spoon River Valley is a district with a rich history of superior programs in many different areas including many academic areas. We have a very proud tradition of academic excellence in the area and fully intend to continue that tradition. We feel our small size allows us to take advantage of our caring for individual students and allows us to help them advance their learning to prepare for their next step. Just a little bit about myself. I grew up in northwestern Illinois in a school very similar to Spoon River Valley. I had an overall positive school experience and so I guess that is one reason I’ve tended to enjoy education in the smaller school settings. I began my teaching career in 1993 as an Agriculture Science teacher. In 1996, my wife and I located to this area and I began teaching at Avon Schools. In July of 2000, I was given the opportunity to move into the position of technology/grant coordinator at Avon which I gladly accepted. During that time I still taught some courses occasionally and actually taught some students from Valley one year. I have had a variety of experiences in education with some experience in technology, grants, curriculum, coaching and student organizations of many sorts. I spent nine years as the principal here at Spoon River Valley Junior/Senior High and now have moved into the Superintendent position and look forward to continuing to work with the students, parents and community to create an educational environment for our students that is the best it can be. My wife (Jody) and I currently live outside of Avon with our five children who attend Abingdon-Avon Schools. They are very active in a wide variety of activities including athletics, scouts and livestock. We are also active in the community including the Avon Businessmen’s Association, the Avon Fire Department and Checkrow Community Church. I look forward to continuing to work with everyone involved in the Spoon River Valley school system and the communities that contribute to the system. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to get in touch with me. I’m looking forward to a great year!

Greetings and welcome to Spoon River Valley Elementary.   My name is Jody Collier and I am honored to serve the families and students in the Spoon River Valley community.  I will start by telling a little about myself.  I was born and raised on a farm outside of London Mills.  I attended Spoon River Valley and graduated in 1991.  I then attended Western Illinois University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with areas in math, science, and language.  In 2009, I enrolled at Bradley University, graduating in 2011 with a Masters in Educational Administration.  I currently reside in Fairview with my husband Chris and two daughters.  We are very active with the SRV and North Fulton athletics and activities, as well as, being involved in many community organizations.

I am proud to work with such a dedicated staff.  Our school is committed to providing the highest quality education to all students.  Lessons are developed that promote rigor and higher level thinking.  The caring staff provides a safe, nurturing environment where students can learn and grow to their fullest potential.  We encourage you to stop by, visit, and get involved in the outstanding instructional programs and opportunities we offer to our students.

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Collier
