We are celebrating Autism Acceptance and Appreciation Week next week in the Elementary, April 27- May 1. Here are the dress up days.

Due to low attendance numbers, the preschool activity night scheduled for tomorrow has been canceled. We are working to reschedule a parent activity soon so watch for more information.
We are thankful for our administrative assistants every day, but today we take a special opportunity to thank them for all they do to keep us all on track. We are fortunate to have some of the best!

Mrs. Mayall’s high school chemistry class brought the wow-factor to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with four incredible demonstrations:
🧪 Martina amazed us with the iodine clock reaction!
🍌 Jace made science tasty with DNA extraction from bananas
🔥 Blake wowed the crowd by burning water
🌀 Jozie put motion in action with a centrifugal force demonstration
Thanks to our talented high school scientists sharing their knowledge and passion. Future scientists in the making! 👩🔬👨🔬

This week in LVC Miners athletics

Students in Mrs. McLaughry’s junior high class are diving into the world of baseball researching a variety of self-selected topics. From how equipment has evolved over time to the growth of the game around the world, students are exploring the many layers of America’s pastime.
Projects also highlight mascots, traditions, ballpark food, and even favorite players!

Taylor, Morgyn, and Ella are presenting their science research today at the Illinois State Academy of Science Annual Meeting.

If you missed the Valley spring concert with a brief history of Rock and Roll, you missed a good one! If you joined us which song was your favorite?

Students in Mr. Harrison’s class have been building their welding skills by practicing bead lines and layering techniques.
These projects may look simple at first glance, but they take focus, patience, and precision. Each pass helps students improve control, consistency, and confidence with the equipment.
It’s great to see our students gaining real-world, career-ready skills through hands-on experiences like this! 💪

Drive In Movie Night!

We were proud to welcome SSG Bradley Olson to Mrs. Mayall’s science classes today (Wednesday, April 15)!
Students had the opportunity to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) career pathways within the U.S. Army.
Thank you to SSG Olson for taking the time to connect with our students and expand their thinking about future opportunities!

Reminder... the music concert is this Thursday at 6. If you signed up to donate cookies or are willing to donate, you can bring them to school or drop them off before the concert. Thanks so much.

This past Saturday, April 11th, several of our talented Junior High Choir members represented our school at the IESA Solo & Ensemble Contest held at Rockridge High School—and they did an outstanding job!
Our students earned five Division I ratings and one Division II rating.
Even more impressive was the way they supported one another throughout rehearsals and on the day of the event. Their encouragement, teamwork, and positive spirit truly made us proud. 💛
Please join us in congratulating these amazing singers for both their success and the way they represented our school community! 👏🎤

A big thanks to Snowman Studios Inc for refreshing our sign out by the highway. They did the initial sign and then also did the refresh due to sun damage. Thank you!

We were excited to welcome SRV alum Meghan Phelps (Class of 2018) back to speak with our students today!
Meghan shared her journey from studying history at Monmouth College to her work with the Warren County Historical Museum, and her current role at Illinois Wesleyan University; all while pursuing her Master’s in Library & Information Science with a focus on archives.
Students had the chance to learn about careers in history, museums, and archival work.
Thank you, Meghan, for coming back and inspiring the next generation of SRV students! 👏📚
