Dear Spoon River Valley CUSD 4 families,
It is with deep sadness that I inform you about a tragic loss in our schools and in our community. On Sunday, we lost a Junior student at Spoon River Valley High School.
Our district is committed to doing everything we can to help our students with the grieving and healing process. To that end, we have arranged for our crisis counseling team to be at our schools on Tuesday when students return from Easter break.
This loss will affect everyone in our school family and in the Spoon River Valley community. Students may have a difficult time dealing with the loss, and we encourage you to talk with your child.
At this time, the district will not be releasing the name of the student out of respect for the privacy of the family. Details regarding a vigil or memorial service are being determined and will be shared when available. I appreciate your continued support of our students during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Chris Janssen
Superintendent
Spoon River Valley CUSD 4
