Our 3rd graders had an awesome day exploring Dickson Mounds Museum and learning about the Indigenous peoples who lived in our region. Students got hands-on with artifacts and connected what they’ve been studying in class.
Many parents and families remember taking this same trip when they were in school! It’s great to keep this tradition alive!

Our 3rd graders had a very special guest! Marcus Boyer, a local historian and longtime collector of Indigenous artifacts, visited our classroom to share his knowledge and passion for the history of this region.
Students were able to see and handle real artifacts, ask thoughtful questions, and learn about the people who lived here long before us. Marcus’s stories helped set the stage for our upcoming field trip to Dickson Mounds Museum.
A huge thank you to Marcus for sharing his time and incredible collection with our students.
