Congrats to the NFW volleyball team for placing 2nd in the Fulton County Tournament today!! Shout out to Grace Yaste, Kacie White, and Mollie Cornell for being named to the Camille's All Tournament team! Way to go!

Yesterday during lunch, our junior high students got to cash in their Plinko chips as part of our Positive Behavior Incentive Program. 🙌 Big shout-out to Mrs. Mayall for helping make it happen!
Students earned chips through positive academic and behavior choices, then dropped them for points to score fun rewards like snacks, drinks, silly socks, homework passes, and more. 🥳 Some cashed out right away, while others saved for bigger prizes next time!

🍂 Big thanks to Mrs. McClaughry’s junior high students for bringing the fall spirit to our hallways! Today they decorated bulletin boards to celebrate the season, and they look fantastic! 🍁

✨ Our favorite social studies teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Burdette, was celebrated today at the Illinois Democracy Schools Convening at NIU! She joined other past recipients of the Carolyn Pereira Leadership Award, which honors educators who go above and beyond in preparing young people for civic life. Mrs. Burdette received this recognition in 2024, and it’s inspiring to see her alongside such dedicated leaders.
Being an Illinois Democracy School means we’re committed to empowering students with the skills, knowledge, and voice to be active participants in their communities and our democracy.

✨ In Mrs. Weese’s English class, students are diving into Anthem by Ayn Rand! 📖🔥 This classic dystopian novel has sparked some deep, thought-provoking conversations and the students are bringing great energy and insight to the discussions.

Two of our somewhat new employees getting to know each other. Today Mr. Brewer met the field lining robot and they worked together.

Spoon River Valley has started a new initiative in an attempt to bring more student voice into the decision making process. This year we will have a student representative at board meetings to share information from the student view. This year's student representative is Ella Eathington. Congratulations Ella.
